→ The people around the Patterbeile Park in Maryville would like to establish an open area, off-leash dog park in Patterbeile Park where well-behaved canine citizens can exercise in a clean, safe environment without endangering or annoying people, property or wildlife. → One problem that has arisen is that there are so many dogs in the greater park area, that the land is being destroyed, just because it is not set udwdp for dogs. → Property owners around the park are becoming upset from this damage, as it is lowering property values. → For these reasons, we would like to develop a beautiful, well-maintained space open to all dog lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the park's rules and restrictions. → This park will be a community project, in partnership with the City of Maryville, designed to satisfy the needs of dog-owners and non-dog owners alike. → The city needs 80% of the people that live directly on the park to support the effort. → We need to come to consensus as dog and non-dog owners and see how the park will benefit our neighborhood. → And there should be waterslides.

→ There is a small amount of history that describes why it is valuable to have such a dog park inside of Patterbeile Park. → In 1947, there was a national dog-show in the park because the location was the best in the city for the different events that occurred. → After this time, the park continually was used for local shows until 1971. → Becasue of this, the park was known as a good place to bring your dog. → However, after a very popular series of evening concerts in the 90's, Patterbeile Park has received much more pedestrian traffic than in earlier years. → It is for these reasons why the matter should currently be addressed.

→ There are several specific things that will be useful in the design of the dog park, and the surrounding community's ability to support it. → Instead of signs, we can have several short term banners up the first weekend of each summer month for the first year advertising the park. → Also, there will not be any new fines being created becuase of the new park, especially until we find out whether the park solves the problem itself.
